The first week of June I facilitated the Foundation class at our office. This is an opportunity for a free week of TSQL and SSRS training for individuals who have been displaced due to the economy or for military personnel who has recently gotten out of service or has retired from the service. One of the big concerns for individuals who participate in the training is how do I continue this training? How will I be able to afford to pay to get more intense training? What if I get a job, how will I participate in this training during the day?
Well, the good thing about the Sql Server Community, there is a lot of flexibility for everybody. Below is a list of sites that you can go to to get training for free and during hours that are conducive to a work schedule.
Training on the T’s are Free Webinars that happen every Tuesday and Thursday by professionals in the BI Community, during lunch hours.

www.sqlsaturday.com as you would image happens on Saturday. This is a full day of FREE training and you get fed.
www.sqllunch.com is also a FREE opportunity for training that happens during your lunch hour.
http://jacksonville.sqlpass.org/ is for JSSUG (Jacksonville Sql Server User Group) is a FREE user group meeting that gets together every 3rd Wednesday of the Monday at the Bank of America campus.
These are just a few of the FREE sites to participate with. Now a couple that you would pay to go to see is:
www.SqlRally.com
www.sqlpass.org
So what am I saying to the students of the Foundation Class? You have a countless number of resources available to you. Take advantage of it and seek mentors in the BI Community. They will help coach you in the direction you need to go.
thanks!
