Post SQL Saturday #62 Recap, number 1 of something… Yes, I will be posting a few recaps, but mainly to highlight what I learned from both Day of BI and SQL Saturday itself. Yes, I took notes, and there were great tips as well as great one liners that need to be shared. Many have been posted on Twitter, but I was not posting live and direct to Twitter that day so I’ll be contributing in this manner…
But first, I wanted to share my Networking shout outs! These include the wonderful people I met from the entire event, and hopefully I have their names right, and hopefully, we can reconnect on future events...
First and most importantly, many and great thanks to Jose Chinchilla (Blog | Twitter) and Pam Shaw (Twitter) for hosting a great event! I am sure there will be a write up by many on all of the great things that were done, and maybe on the minor things that were missed, but all in all, it was an excellent time had by myself and by many others in the SQL Server Community. Plus, personal thanks for the awesome lunch for both events, the endless supply of Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts, and extreme thanks for bringing Splenda for the coffee, too! Also, shout outs to K-Force for hosting the event, as well! Excellent location, and kudos for making sure a janitorial staff was on hand throughout the day, too!!!
Many thanks to Stacia Misner (Blog | Twitter) and knitting assistant/heckler, Erika Bakse (Blog | Twitter) for presenting a Day of BI. While it may have seemed the pace was slow for Day of BI, I thought it was good pace as I took many notes throughout the session, picking up tips and insight on BI here and there. I’ll be adding a blog entry just on Day of BI soon enough. And thanks Erika for recommending taking shots (of coffee or soda, not alcohol) every time Stacia said “it depends”, or double shots every time Stacia said “it depends” without saying the words “it depends”!
Thanks to Bob C. from Jacksonville and Mike B. from Orlando, my classmates from Day of BI. For Bob C., great to hear you found a job since the last SQL Saturday in Orlando! We need to do lunch one day where I cross the river to visit you at The Landing. Mike B., I hope you get a chance to take a look at more of the online SQL Server community as well as the user groups in your area: OPASS and the newest user group, MagicPASS.
Thanks to the following presenters and their presentation that I attended during SQL Saturday itself:
I plan to have another post about the SQL Saturday sessions in detail with my highlights, but for now, great job by all! Also, I hope that one guy in the blue and white strip shirt was not as annoying to you presenters as he was to some of us attending. (And if you in the blue and white shirt are reading this, yes, you were a bit annoying. Just kidding...)
Finally, special shout outs to following folks I met:
And lastly, to anyone else I missed, thanks, and to anyone else I have yet to meet, see you at the next event!
My two and half cents…
!Good to see you again Jason!
Was indeed go to see you buddy. Glad my poor Donald Farmer imitation was a memorable one...lol...
