A few of us here in the Capital Region of NY (Albany, Schenectady, Troy, and the surrounding region) are starting a SQL Server user group. We are still working out the details, we may initially start as a virtual chapter and hope to grow into a chapter with regular meetings, or if the tide of interest is with us we will start having regular meetings right out of the gate.
If anyone is interested in joining us, please contact me here on BIDN.
If anyone has any advice for starting a chapter ( we are already in touch with several people at PASS), please feel free to post your advice here in the comments area of this blog. We are particularly interested in how we can get the word out to people in the region that may be interested in joining us. Right now, we are posting here, on SSC, LinkedIn and Facebook. Sponsorship, at least for space, is another concern. We are contacting local training companies asking for space. Ideas for space options would be most welcome as would any/all other ideas and suggestions.
If anyone is interested in presenting to a new chapter, either virtually or in person, please contact me here on BIDN.
We have a long way to go, but I think we have a good core of committed people.
Thank you all for your suggestions and ideas.
