Quickly Identify Expressions/Configurations in your SSIS Package with BIxPress

Don’t you hate it when you’re troubleshooting a package and you have to hunt around for a configuration or an expression? Well BIxPress has solved this issue and this is by far one of my favorite features of BIxPress. Let me tell you how much of a timesaver this is and how easy it is to just glance at your package and be able to identify which items are dynamic. Once you have BIxPress installed it automatically highlights all expressions/configurations with either a red or blue icon indicating that the value is dynamic as shown from the image below.

And for whatever reason if those icons go away after you rename something or add items to your packages such as BIxPress Auditing framework you can simply add them back. All you have to do is navigate to the toolbar and click on BIxPress and then pick the ‘Expression Highlighter’ and BIxPress will add those icons back to your package. It really doesn’t get any easier than that and is just another feature developers shouldn’t live without.
