Resources for New SQL Server Developers

About every month or so a new group of students tour the Pragmatic Works office. They’re a part of the Pragmatic Works foundation, a non profit organization created to help unemployed, underemployed, and returning veterans gain the skills needed to gain access into the IT industry as database developers. I always enjoy giving tips and tricks, and recommendations to students on skills they need, areas to focus on, and how to think like a developer.  However, one thing has always bothered me. I’m never able to keep in touch with everybody, so the amount guidance I can provide these students is limited to one week.

That’s my inspiration for this posting. I want to provide a honeypot of resources for ambitious young developers to begin and continue their education on the SQL Server platform. This post is going to be an on-going work in progress so I encourage you to contribute in the comments section with any thoughts or new resources that you think should be added to this list. Remember, this is geared toward novice developers.
